Rivers Casino in Des Plain, which found its way in the retail book on March 9, finally launched its BetRivers mobile sports betting app via its partnership Rush Street Interactive.
It is actually amazing news for IIIinois state; their first legal sportsbook is open. Moreover, this means real money online gamblers will likely enjoy betting with this new app.
Close to a year after Governor J.B Pritzker signs up the law that paved a way for legal sports betting in the state. This was in a bid to expand the gambling space in this big state.
And three months after the state closed its casinos due to the spread of COVID-19. Illinois gamblers will for the first time place their bets online using their smartphone devices. This initiative came into existence on Thursday morning as the state launches its first online sportsbook.
“We are excited to make history in bringing the first online sportsbook to sports fans in our home state just in time as American sports are coming back into action,”
Rush Street Interactive president Richard Schwartz said in a statement.
Furthermore, the mobile sports betting launch is going to propel a massive increase in the US betting market. This will also account for a majority of the handlers in other states where gambling is legal.
Illinois Mobile Sports Betting Legalities
Campaigners, which were organized by Bluhm and other casino lovers, assured IIIinois gambling law was drafted to offer casinos a push start on sports betting market online. This was a move to make sure that the casino faces a recognition like DraftKings and FanDuel.
But the good thing is that the license operation for River Casino on mobile sports betting will not have many legal restrictions unlike the likes of DraftKings and FanDuel. These companies are locked in a clause that makes them pay a staggering $20 million.
However, for a segment of that fee, they were six other casinos that were contracted sports betting operating licenses by the Illinois Gaming Board. Above all, each of the six casinos will have to request approval from the state’s regulatory agency’s administrator to offer online betting.
On that same note, there are no other requests that have been made as far as the Gaming Board spokesperson said.
In addition, the Gaming board has made clarity on how players will participate on BetRivers mobile sports betting app. Gamblers will have to register for a betting account, but the only way they can achieve that is by visiting the casino first to complete the process.
Final Thoughts
The Pritzker’s office has indicated an estimate that sports betting will inject an increase of $100 million in the state reserves annually. In addition, the industry analyst has gone on and suggest that IIIinois market an annually handle over $5 billion.
